About the role
We’re looking to recruit a Digital Copywriter who will be responsible for the timely creation and delivery of engaging digital copy for the Workshop and Maintenance categories of Halfords Group. With over 1000 stores and garages at Halfords, your words will engage millions of people across the UK. No two days are the same – one day you could be writing social copy for our best-selling socket sets and the next, writing FAQs on power tools. This is a great opportunity to be part of a busy, forward thinking content team to create a range of copy across our Workshop and Maintenance products and services.
Key Accountabilities
- Create, maintain, or rewrite a wide range of SEO optimised copy with a customer first approach, including:
- Advice Centre Articles
- Brand Pages
- Blogs
- FAQs
- Category Short Descriptions
- Video Scripts
- Product descriptions
- Store information pages
- Work with the Senior Copywriter and the Group Content Team in the production and implementation of a holistic website and blog review to ensure consistency in tone and style.
- Identify new opportunities for content to be created.
- Be able to conduct competitor audits providing content recommendations to help Halfords dominate each category.
- Liaise with the marketing, and category teams to obtain any information required to either write new copy or make any changes needed to bring pages up to date.
- Work closely with the Marketing function, in particular the SEO team, to ensure that all content is fully optimised to maximise effectiveness
- Establish strong working relationships with relevant cross-functional teams such as brand & marketing to ensure Content is represented and considered throughout the creative process
Skills & Experience
- You love writing, you know the value of a well written piece of content and above all, you want to provide sound advice that helps people
- Excellent written and spoken English (perfect spelling and grammar essential)
- Highly organised with great project management skills, confident in working to tight deadlines
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal
- Enthusiastic and driven with a passion for retail
- Understanding of SEO and use of key words
- Competent in all Microsoft Office
- Ideally, you’d have at least 1 year experience in copywriting for businesses, following brand guidelines and their tone of voice with the ability to showcase activity
