The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to appoint a Digital content and marketing communications officer to join the Marketing and Communications Team.
The Marketing and Communications Team are responsible for promoting the global brand and reputation of the Faculty, individual Departments and Schools and programmes available for study. The work of the team is organised into three key strands: Marketing, Student Recruitment and Selection. Each strand has a role in the applicant to student “journey” from generating interest and applications through to application screening and selection and ultimately converting applicants into students. The team aim to deliver this work whilst maintaining operational excellence through exemplary customer service and the efficient and effective use of resources, whilst being mindful of the University’s strategic plan and associated KPIs.
The portfolio of programmes is large and diverse, attracting a range of different student types. The Faculty have ambitious targets associated with student recruitment and in particular to increase the number of fee-paying students and ultimately drive income. There is a need to recruit more students to postgraduate study and to all levels of study from overseas and other countries within the UK whilst maintaining a core of Scottish students. The University has significant aims to recruit individuals from areas deemed deprived by the Scottish Government Index of Multiple Deprivation. This results in a vast, complex number of different campaigns and close management of student selection as well as status to achieve the desired outcomes.
The Team have made significant strides towards these targets. This post offers the opportunity to engage with applicants, academics and professional services staff (within the Faculty and wider University). The successful candidate will have demonstrable digital communication and videography experience in marketing as well as the ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision and lead on individual activities and tasks.
The post-holder will play an important role in raising awareness of the Faculty and degree programmes on offer to key markets, whilst evaluating progress and providing others with key content and messaging to convert leads and applicants.
The successful candidate will have responsibility to develop and deliver campaigns to help achieve student recruitment targets, using a variety of digital channels and marketing methods ensuring communications are on brand as well as engaging with a number of new electronic tools.
Formal interviews for this post will be held on 20/11/2024
Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Lia McElhinney, Senior marketing officer (lia.mcelhinney@strath.ac.uk).
