This is an exciting opportunity to become Chelmsford City Council’s Social Media Officer, responsible for the day-to-day running of the council’s main corporate social media accounts. There’s a real opportunity to make this role your own, so if you live and breathe social media, are creative, forward thinking, with a love for algorithms and a passion for making memorable content, this could be the job for you!
As a part of our small, friendly communications team, you’ll post across multiple platforms, reaching thousands of Chelmsford residents, workers and visitors every week. You’ll be supporting teams across the council to realise their social media potential, gathering, creating and capturing content about our services, community and district. You’ll also co-ordinate content gathered from the rest of the communications team, ensuring a consistent tone of voice and produce analysis and reporting on our campaigns and performance.
The successful applicant will need to have experience of social media management across multiple platforms along with an up-to-date knowledge of current social media trends, behaviours and innovations. You’ll also need to have a solid understanding of communications and digital content, familiarity with analytical and scheduling tools, and basic design capabilities. Some video editing experience would be a plus.
This is a part-time, permanent position of 26 hours a week. These hours could be worked over 4 or 5 days with the agreement of your line manager. You will be based at the Civic Centre for at least one day a week with flexibility for home working.
Interviews will be in person between 14 and 16 October 2024 and will consist of a practical written exercise followed by an interview.
