Are you a talented storyteller with a love for the written word? Manchester Museum has a whole host of wonderful tales to tell and needs someone to bring them to life.
Part of the University of Manchester, Manchester Museum is at an exciting stage in its 130-year history. Following on from a successful values-led redevelopment project, the Museum reopened to a huge fanfare in February 2023 and was named as a runner-up in Art Fund Museum of the Year 2024, the biggest museum prize in the world.
With so much to celebrate and to talk about, the Editorial Content Creator will help us bring out more of the rich stories from our team, our communities and our collections. You will join the Communications and Marketing team and be responsible for developing high-quality written content across a number of platforms, from our website and social media to the creation of compelling stories for the press.
Over the past 18 months, the Museum has made a significant shift in its approach to communications, adopting a values-led, person-centred approach. So you’ll be expected to immerse yourself in our collections to draw out stories that haven’t been told before, and build on our relationships to champion diverse voices and provide new perspectives on our work.
We are looking for someone with a nose for a story and a love of writing, who finds joy in collaboration and feels comfortable challenging existing narratives. You’ll be responsible for developing a calendar of regular editorial content that reflects our tone of voice and ensures a wide range of audiences can find a sense of belonging at Manchester Museum, whether they’re able to visit in person or not.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
