Join the petite agency with big clients and big ideas.
This is a great opportunity to join one of the longest established web agencies in the UK and work from our idyllic rural location (part hybridly if preferred) with a range of clients from small local businesses to international brands. We’re a tiny agency punching hugely above our weight, so this is a chance to work with some exciting clients and really make a mark on our company.
Experience and qualifications
We prefer an individual with existing digital agency experience but would still consider applications from those with a persuasive argument as to why they didn’t need it.
Similarly, whilst this role might suit a graduate best, we would not demand this and acknowledge that talent, aptitude, and enthusiasm are in no way the exclusive purview of those with a degree.
Basically, if you can design and build websites, and enjoy doing so, you’ll likely be a contender.
The role
If you work in the digital industry already, you’ll know the term “web designer” is highly subjective and can differ from agency to agency depending on the way they work or the technologies they favour.
In our case we mean someone who can design a website from scratch and use industry standard tools such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP to transform that design into a functioning site.
As a small agency, we each need to wear multiple hats, so not only should you be prepared to master a diverse set of skills, we’d hope you’d relish the opportunity to do so.
Ideally, we’d like you to become a web unicorn. But we don’t necessarily need the associated prancing, sparkles or rainbows. We’re an inclusive company, though, so if prancing and sparkles are your thing then bring it on.
Skills
We have a diverse range of clients with different needs, so there is no typical week here. However, the more of the following skills you possess, the better fit you might be.
- Creativity and a good eye for aesthetics.
- Knowledge of web design principles and the latest trends.
- A broad and demonstrable ability to work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.
- Good technical knowledge of WordPress.
- An understanding of SEO.
Anything else you can bring to the party would be a bonus. Whilst building websites is the core of what we do there will often be opportunities to get involved in other creative activities, corporate videography being a prime example.
Personal qualities
Extrovert or introvert? Either are welcome. If you want a laugh, or a charged debate on music, gin, politics, or the latest bingeathon on Netflix that’s fine. Equally, if you want to just keep your duffle coat on, put in your earbuds, and stay in your own world all day that’s fine too.
But whoever you are, we’ll expect you to take pride in your work, display an interest in developing new skills and adopting new web technologies, and take satisfaction from a job well done delivering a great new website for a client.
Opportunities
We’re proud of the brands we work with. We’ve won their trust and we aim to keep it. You’ll be playing a vital role in maintaining that trust and helping us grow the company. We’re only as strong as the skills you bring and the creativity and passion you display.
We aim to build upon our success and grow the agency, and with increased success come increased opportunities for the whole team. We value and reward hard-work and enthusiasm.
We don’t require the successful candidate to pledge eternal allegiance to the company, but we hope to find an individual who relishes to opportunity for a long-term position with us and not simply use their tenure here as a brief career stepping stone.
