The department of the Vice President External Engagement coordinates UCL's engagement with a range of audiences, raising the university's profile and influence, and managing its reputation. It promotes the public value of UCL's research and partnerships to the future of Britain and globally. It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.
About the role
Reporting to UCL's Head of Brand, the Marketing and Brand Officer will work as an integral member of the Brand team. The role involves supporting the implementation and elevation of the UCL brand, in marketing, communications initiatives at every level.
The Marketing and Brand Officer will help to ensure the UCL projects inform and align with the overall UCL brand, supporting the maintenance of the brand identity standards and brand architecture.
They will provide direction on the creative use of visuals to support the brand. They will join the team at a crucial time and be part of pivotal projects the brand team are leading for the university.
About you
The newly created Marketing and Brand Officer will be a vital member of the Brand team. This is an exciting time to join the Brand team as they lead the Brand Refresh project for University College London (UCL).
The following provides a high-level overview of duties:
- Triage brand queries and provides advice and guidance concerning the use of the UCL brand, working collaboratively with all teams
- Supports the implementation of the brand across the university (e.g. brand identity, brand architecture and development, logo, typography and colour usage)
- Writes copy for the brand pages and ensures content is kept up to date
- Drafts copy, edits and proofreads communications before publication
- Supports the ongoing communications cascade and project coordination for the brand framework project, which includes UCL's brand refresh
- Supports the team to keep Brand resources and photos on the digital assets management system (Imagestore) refreshed
- Acts as the key administrator to co-ordinate the team's schedule for project delivery
