We are currently recruiting for a YouTube Content Managerto join the History & Science team within Little Dot Studios’ Network department and take specific charge of an expansion in History Hit YouTube output. Content Managers optimise, schedule, and upload content for YouTube and social media, collaborating with the Senior Content Manager, Programming Manager, and Central Video Processing Team on schedules and strategies. They perform basic video editing, design thumbnails in Photoshop, and write SEO-friendly titles, descriptions, and tags. Responsible for the content workflow of assigned channels, they identify and implement improvements with Programming Managers, using YouTube insights and analytics to enhance performance. Though not required, they are encouraged to attend shoots, contribute creative ideas, and engage in the original production and editing process for YouTube videos or vertical content on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Reels. Please note, that a passion for and knowledge of history is vital for this role, as is knowledge of video podcast optimisation.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME
- Take on day to day channel management of several key YouTube channels, including taking responsibility for examining analytics and suggesting actionable insights. Example channels: History Hit, Timeline - World History Documentaries, Chronicle - Medieval History Documentaries.
- Work closely with the History Hit YouTube production team to ensure an aligned strategy for content release, feeding back actionable insights on performance to inform future content output.
- Actively contribute to the content strategy for managed channels and collaborate on consistent schedules with the Senior Content Manager and Programming Manager to give audiences the content they want.
- Benchmark success against other similar channels in the YouTube ecosystem using YouTube analytics and third party tools, such as Tubular Labs, to ensure audience needs are being met and channels continue to grow.
- Launch and expand History Hit’s video podcast output across 2025 and beyond.
- Work with Social Media Managers to ensure wider History Hit marketing needs are supported effectively via YouTube output, including short form and community posts.
- Copywriting and optimisation of content to maximise performance and engagement while resonating with the target audience.
- Take ownership of bespoke thumbnail creation and SEO-optimised metadata to engage with existing and new audiences, including using cutting edge tools such as generative AI to improve quality and scale of our metadata.
- Assist Senior Content Managers and Programming Managers to prepare reports and business reviews to department senior staff, explaining channel performance and ensuring that these are contributing to company goals.
- To suggest new channels and sub-genres to develop and launch, and conduct analysis of the market trends to back up those launches.
- Basic video editing on an as-needed basis and creation of images/designs to be posted to YouTube and social media platforms.
- Advanced: Content Managers may have the chance to work across original content production utilising advanced knowledge of the Adobe suite and additional design tools. This is considered secondary to the core responsibilities of the role.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Skills matter, experience is useful, attitude is everything.
- We emphasise that a passion for and knowledge of history is vital for this role.
- Experience in either graphic design, video editing & motion graphics is a plus!
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop).
- Familiarity with all major social networks, including working knowledge of what makes great content on each platform, and an understanding of each platform’s analytics/data & insights.
- Knowledge of different file formats.
- A data-driven approach and knowledge of analytics, as well as the ability to identify action points and maximise performance.
- Proven experience editing horizontal and vertical video for social platforms, adapting the content to various aspect ratios & file formats.
