Multimedia journalist job profile

The Multimedia journalist is responsible for creating and publishing various types of digital content, including but not limited to articles, short-form videos, infographics, social media posts, and graphics. The Multimedia journalist should have a strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO principles, as well as excellent writing and editing skills. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines. The ideal candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and have experience with content management systems and social media platforms.

Multimedia journalist job description

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Multimedia journalist who will be responsible for producing and publishing various types of digital content. In this position, you will be expected to collaborate with the marketing/content team to develop strategies that align with the company's goals. You will also be responsible for creating engaging and informative content. If you have a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of digital media, we encourage you to apply.

Multimedia journalist duties and responsibilities

Create and publish engaging and original content for various digital platforms, including articles, short-form videos, infographics, social media posts, and graphics.

Research and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to ensure content is relevant and effective

Ensure all content is fact-checked before being published.

Write regular features and news articles – interviewing hospitality professionals over the phone/online or in person, ensuring the content is SEO friendly, informative and appealing to our members

Assist in creating, maintaining and executing the content strategy throughout the calendar year, ensuring that all content is delivered professionally and on time.

Create and edit rich media using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut.

Create member profiles and add user-generated content when required.

Multimedia journalist requirements and qualifications

· 1 years minimum experience in journalism for a digital platform

· A qualification in journalism, communications or a related field.

· Strong communication skills with excellent writing and editing abilities.

· IT skills and familiarity with commonly used software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut

· Excellent interviewing and fact-checking skills with attention to detail.

· Working knowledge of social media platforms, digital marketing tools and best practices across all channels.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

· Knowledge of media ethics and legal standards for journalism.

· Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics, including GA4

· CMS experience

· Excellent multitasking, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

· Ability to think outside box to generate creative and innovative content ideas

· Good time-management skills

· Willingness to learn, take on new challenges and be proactive in pushing the company forward

· Passion for creating engaging and innovative content

· Willingness to travel; confident in attending live events and interacting with clients and members

Desirable skills and experience

A knowledge of the hospitality industry and an interest in food
