We are looking for a Product Designer to join the Connect team at Depop.
This role will be instrumental in realising our north-star vision for user comms at Depop, which focuses on creating a cohesive, user-centred communication system that strengthens connections, user engagement, satisfaction and trust.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in user engagement and communications technology, and will play a meaningful role in improving our in-app communication channels (inbox, chat, notifeed), along with developing tools for internal teams to lead communications seamlessly.
This position offers a unique opportunity to directly impact Depop’s core communication experience by reducing noise, boosting relevance, and empowering users with greater control over their notifications.
Responsibilities

Craft Strategy and Vision: Collaborate with the product trio to define and evolve the strategy for communications, aligning with user needs and Depop’s overarching goals.

Drive Vision-Aligned Design: Design experiences that simplify and enhance Depop's user communications ecosystem, aligning with our product vision.

Optimise In-App Channels: Synthesising qualitative and quantitative data, to expand and refine inbox, chat, and notifeed functionalities in order to improve user engagement and streamline the user journey across communication touch points.

Develop Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build tools and features that empower not only the user, but a variety of stakeholders—including CRM/Marketing, other Product teams, Engineering, and Analysts—to manage and deliver seamless, relevant communications to Depop users.

User Segmentation & Customisation: Design communications tailored to user segments (buyers, sellers, casual users) and enable users to personalise notification settings, giving them control over their experience.

Strategic Channel Use: Prioritise notifications through effective use of push, inbox, and modals
Requirements

Experience designing user experiences for the Web, iOS and Android
-
A good understanding of mobile and desktop UX and UI patterns
-
Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product design (UX & UI)

Proficiency in UX / UI tools (Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, Abstract, etc.)

Effective prototyping skills (Figma, Protopie, Principle or equivalent)

A portfolio showing high quality, thoughtful UX and UI work
-
Ability to translate user research, user testing and data insight to design directives

Ability to tell compelling arguments about your design proposals
Nice to have (but not essential)

Proven ability to solve complex interaction design challenges and excellent visual design skills

A strong grasp of industry standards for in-app communications

Ability to design flows and experiences that simplify and distil down complex actions into usable interfaces

A strong grasp of industry standards for product communications

An understanding of e-commerce and/or marketplace dynamics, and platform to user, user to user, and user to platform interactions
