The Council for British Archaeology (CBA) is seeking a contractor to develop a new YAC website with a focus on design, accessability and user pathways. There will also be a strong co-creation angle particularly with our YAC volunteers, Young Leaders, and other stakeholders, which will be faciliated by an appointed Co-Creation Lead for the project. The goal is to enhance the user experience, improve security, and ensure the site’s future-proofing.
Project Overview
The website must be visually appealing and easy to navigate for a range of users, including parents, YAC volunteers, and children. We require:
- A clean, uncluttered design with improved space and visuals.
- Better-defined user journeys.
- Integration of key features like maps, photo galleries, and interactive elements.
- Co-creation with YAC members to guide the design and ensure it meets their needs.
- Accessibility improvements, with a focus on neurodiverse users.
- Enhanced social media integration, search functionality, and donation capabilities.
The contractor must:
- Use a user-friendly CMS (open-source preferred).
- Provide full details of hosting, domain registration, and technical support.
- Deliver training for the YAC team to maintain and update the site.
The contractor will be responsible for hosting, domain registration, and ongoing maintenance support. Details of hosting arrangements, security patching, and response times for queries should be included.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal contractor will have:
- Proven experience in web development and CMS implementation.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and experience applying them.
- Experience in working on co-created projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders.
About the contract:
The budget for this project is approximately £15,000 (excl. VAT), covering all development and delivery costs. The project is expected to be completed within 14 months.
