Is this the right position for you?
We are looking for someone to consult for us for 8 hours a week so we can make better use of Northern Ireland Humanists social media channels (currently Facebook, X, and Instagram) to continue to grow and develop our movement.
Northern Ireland Humanists is one of the fastest growing parts of Humanists UK, representing non-religious people in Northern Ireland. It promotes awareness of humanism – an ethical, fulfilling, non-religious approach to life – and campaigns on a range of humanist causes, promoting freedom of thought, choice, and expression.
Founded in 2016, Northern Ireland Humanists brings together all Humanists UK members, supporters, and activities in Northern Ireland under one brand to better promote humanist causes. Our work in Northern Ireland dates back to early humanist groups in Belfast as far as back as 1896. Today we are one of the largest human rights groups in Northern Ireland in terms of both members and our social media following.
We enjoy a growing profile nationally because of the enormous popularity of Humanist Ceremonies in Northern Ireland. Our celebrants conduct popular life ceremonies for non-religious people, including legally recognised humanist marriages, funerals, and baby-namings. We also organise Local Groups, provide non-religious pastoral care in prisons and hospitals, support teachers to teach about humanism in RE, and work with MLAs to advance our human rights and equality policy agenda.
Our team is largely made up of volunteers, with one staff member who works across all our diverse work areas.
Some of the key deliverables for this consultant role are:
Day-to-day social media management which includes sharing Humanists UK's stories, especially NI-themed news items, across Northern Ireland Humanists branded channels.
Social media development such as implementing the Humanists UK Social Media Strategy to achieve our social media goals across NIH channels.
