The Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer (AWS, Node, React) with mobile app development experience (React Native) to join our team in creating a pioneering digital pension platform. This is a unique opportunity to work on a greenfield project with vast potential for both product and company growth. As an early member of our nascent team, you will play a central role in shaping and the architecture and driving the development of back-end (AWS serverless) services and web applications (React and React Native).

Our immediate requirement is to support development with our investor mobile app, so React Native experience is essential.

This role is perfect for a mid-level developer with 4-6 years of experience who is excited about the challenges and rewards of playing a key role at a pre-launch fintech startup.

Responsibilities

Technical leadership. Define and own the technical strategy for back-end and front-ends.
Collaborate with the Product function to build products and services
Lead the development and maintenance of core services
Oversee front end development
Ensures best practices in code quality, testing and deployment
Own and oversee CI/CD
DevOps - oversee cloud infrastructure (covering monitoring, security, cost optimisation), product builds and iOS and Android app deployment
Ensure uptime of the platform, managing security and efficiency of AWS environment
Recruit and manage developers and testers, when necessary
Manage technical relationship with key partners
Speak with clients when necessary to gather user requirements & translate into technical solutions
Support the Directors with compliance & regulatory requirements - from authorisation approval, to satisfying ongoing compliance requirements to regulators and regulatory partners
Support Operations, Marketing and Sales functions with their goals

Requirements

Back end skills

AWS Proficiency: Strong experience with the AWS Platform, including services like AWS SAM, Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, and WAF. Ability to set up and manage AWS environments with robust security measures.
Node.js Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Node.js (version 18 or later), including asynchronous programming patterns and the aws-sdk version 3 with modular dependencies.
NoSQL Databases: Experience designing and working with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB, optimising for performance and scalability.
Serverless Architecture: Proven experience with serverless architectures and RESTful API design and development, building APIs that efficiently interact with various AWS services.
Asynchronous Code: Proficiency in writing asynchronous code to improve application performance and scalability.
CI/CD Practices: Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices and tools, with hands-on experience implementing these in AWS environments using AWS CodePipeline or similar tools.
Automated Testing: Familiarity with automated testing of APIs and services using frameworks like Jest, including testing in local environments with LocalStack and AWS SAM Local.
Version Control: Experience with version control systems, preferably AWS CodeCommit.

Front end skills

Proficiency with Expo and React Native development tools.
Strong understanding of state management using libraries such as MOBX or Redux.
Experience with user authentication mechanisms.
Familiarity with RESTful API integration.
Expertise in responsive design and creating exceptional user experiences.
Basic understanding of app deployment processes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £60,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
