We are seeking a dedicated EH&S Advisor to join our Renfrew team and contribute to our mission of improving patient outcomes through excellence in EH&S practices.
Job Overview:
The EH&S Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all activities within Terumo Aortic are conducted in accordance with EH&S policies and regulatory requirements. This position involves leading initiatives to promote EH&S awareness, developing and implementing management systems, and providing technical advice and training to support the company's compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Liaise with various business functions to ensure that all company activities align with EH&S policies and regulatory requirements.
- EH&S Awareness: Assist in promoting a high level of EH&S compliance awareness throughout the company.
- System Development: Aid in developing and implementing effective EH&S management systems, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
- Policy and Procedure Leadership: Lead in creating and implementing EH&S-related policies, procedures, risk assessments, reports, and training materials.
- Audit Coordination: Oversee the coordination of EH&S internal audits, actions, and recommendations in collaboration with the wider EH&S team.
- Technical Support: Provide technical advice, coaching, and assistance to associates to ensure effective day-to-day risk management and sustained EH&S compliance.
- Risk Management: Assist in maintaining and updating EH&S opportunity and risk registers and compliance action trackers.
- Training Programs: Collaborate in the coordination and delivery of EH&S training programs to meet business needs and achieve company objectives.
- Incident Review: Support the review of accident and hazard reports, conduct root cause analyses, and identify risk reduction opportunities.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changing EH&S regulations and industry best practices, providing updates and guidance to the wider EH&S team.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in coordinating site emergency evacuations and other EH&S-related emergencies.
Experience Required:
The following experience, qualifications, and credentials are desirable for this role:
- Experience in a similar EH&S advisory or compliance-focused role, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Technical Grade Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH) or equivalent, demonstrable professional experience.
- Sound knowledge and experience of EH&S legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Experience in one or more of the following areas is particularly beneficial:
- PUWER Regulations
- DSEAR Regulations
- COSHH Regulations
- PPC Regulations
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 (environmental) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) management system requirements.
- Prior experience in developing and/or delivering EH&S training programs, toolbox talks, and technical presentations.
- Experience in coordinating or developing permit-to-work, hazardous energy isolation, and lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems and documentation is beneficial.
- First Aid Certificate/Trained First Aider status would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with an investigative mindset and a genuine interest in EH&S aspects, coupled with the ability to interpret regulations and technical guidance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with experience in preparing technical reports and risk assessments.
- IT literate with a sound working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
