The Molecular Networks team provides worldwide reference data resources in interactomics (IntAct), pathways (Reactome), and systems biology models (BioModels), as well as infrastructure for biomedical knowledge management in the EBI Search and identifiers.org projects.
In the context of the Pathogen Data Network project, we support the integration of multi-disciplinary pathogen data across molecular biology, medicine, social sciences, and other disciplines into a network of internationally co-ordinated pathogen data portals centered on the EMBL-EBI portal. This resource supports international pandemic preparedness research, and provides an infrastructure for rapid research response to potential future infectious disease challenges.
Your role
You will contribute to the development of lightweight, efficient structures for the flexible visualisation of data from multiple different domains, communicate with external data providers globally to support them in providing their data through co-ordinated Pathogen Portals, and interact with users and global stakeholders to ensure our visualisation strategies meet their requirements in supporting pathogen research in normal and potential crisis modes.

Grading: 5 or 6 depending on qualifications and experience (monthly salary starting at £3,229 or £ 3,612 after tax but excl. pension & insurances) + other paid benefits based on personal circumstances

You have
A degree in computer science or a related field;
minimum two years experience in interface development;
strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript;
knowledge of popular front-end development frameworks, esp. Angular;
Some knowledge of graphical presentation libraries and techniques (SVGs, D3, etc.);
knowledge of CSS libraries, such as Bootstrap, Foundation, etc;
ability to implement responsive and accessible designs;
some knowledge of popular design tools, such as Figma;
good communication skills;
ability to work within existing design schemes & frameworks.
You might also have
Bioinformatics background;
knowledge of accessibility best practices;
familiarity with testing practices;
familiarity with current coding practices and development tools, including version control.
