University of St Andrews Entrepreneurship Centre is an incubator which aims to inspire and enable entrepreneurship for the University and non-University community. It supports the full entrepreneurial journey - starting with empowerment of aspiring entrepreneurs through to the creation and development of early-stage ventures, all the way to small and medium size enterprise growth. The Entrepreneurship Centre is part of St Andrews Innovation which is a subsidiary company of the University of St Andrews. The organisation connects industry with our student and staff community to harness a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. The team helps develop ideas, enhance research, and realise potential.

The role
- We are looking for a Marketing & Events Manager to manage the Entrepreneurship Centre brand.
- You will be responsible for all physical and digital events, brand recognition, online content, social media and play a core role in the development of our entrepreneurial community.
- You will report directly to our Director of Enterprise.
- This is a full-time role with the opportunity for remote working.
You will be responsible for:
Events Design
- Creating, managing and delivering all Entrepreneurship Centre events including alumni engagement and pitching events (digital and face-to-face).
- Organising and managing/hosting relevant community events (with invited guest speakers).
- Managing a wide range of event suppliers including AV, live streaming, video production, photography, and catering.
- Leading the creation and execution of event content including event brochures, PowerPoint/ Canva slide decks, videos, and speaker briefs.
Brand Management
- Managing brand awareness amongst key stakeholder groups.
- Managing the student team of Interns and Brand Ambassadors, and coordinating their efforts and activities.
- Managing and growing the Entrepreneurship Centre podcast: Beyond StArtups.
- Measuring brand awareness with key metrics via social analytics e.g., geography, incoming traffic, and new users.
- Managing and driving the reputation of the centre and profile as well as increasing brand visibility across all channels.
- Ensuring the brand is consistently implemented across all marketing channels, including digital platforms, printed literature, and outreach activities.
- Managing the Entrepreneurship Centre’s online platform including platform maintenance, refreshing content, updating events and competitions and working with our supplier to improve data collection.
Social Media
- Maintaining our social media voice & tone.
- Evangelising the Entrepreneurship Centre programme and community.
- Assisting the wider team to develop strategic initiatives to further the wider knowledge exchange aims of the Entrepreneurship Centre and the wider St Andrews Innovation team.
- Using social media to build thought leadership.
- Increasing followers and engagement on all platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn & Instagram).
- Use social media analytics to create meaningful content based on past post-performance.
Marketing Strategy
- Refining the marketing strategy for the Entrepreneurship Centre to ensure objectives are met.
- Managing the annual budget in line with these objectives.
- Devising a marketing strategy for the latest Entrepreneurship Centre pursuit; The Entrepreneurship Centre WhatsApp Community
- Leading the customer discovery initiative to better understand our community and adapt our offerings accordingly.
Competitions
- Managing and delivering all Entrepreneurship Competitions including budget, terms and conditions, and timelines.
- Promoting and working with stakeholders offering competitions, to promote and manage applications (e.g. Converge and Scottish EDGE).
Skills and experience required
We are seeking a proactive self-starter with excellent multitasking and prioritisation skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment. With a proven track record in both traditional and virtual events, as well as branding, you will bring a drive for excellence and a strong customer-focused approach to the role.
Essential requirements
- Relevant marketing, digital marketing, or events qualification.
- Experience with online marketing tools such as Meta and Google Ads
- Proficient in the use of WordPress, Hootsuite and PowerPoint.
- Experience of events management and delivery, both digital and traditional.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms.
- Experience of liaising with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral), ability to write news articles, blogs, newsletters, and briefings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
- Demonstrate confidence and flexibility in handling the challenges of a busy working environment.
- Have a high degree of attention to detail and a high quality of output, including accuracy and volume.
- Proficiency in the use of Mailchimp and CRM platform (experience in Monday.com is a bonus).
- Ability to provide regular reporting and updates (both formal and informal).
